RE: Black Tank issue

First make sure that you have a couple a gallons of water in the black tank before you start using it to ensure that the solid waste is not building up into the tower of doom. Secondly keep you black take valve shut until your tank is 2/3 to 3/4 full then dump it. Usually this is done as you are getting ready to leave the campground. After you dump your tank, shine a light down the toilet do ensure that the take is indeed empty. The tank gauge is probably indicating the wrong readings due to waste/TP stuck to it. Prior to having the Tornado Tank Flush installed in my black tank, after dumping my tank I would drag a hose into the bathroom and fill the black tank with water and then drain it. I would repeat that as necessary to ensure all the waste was out. Then I would add about a gallon of water with a bit of tank treatment. I know there are many here that swear by the GEO method for black tank maintenance. Search this site for "black tank" and you will find a ton of advice on the subject.
Good luck,
Rick

RE: What kind of 12 volt batteries should I buy?

I really like the Trojans personally, however they are a bit pricey but you do get what you pay for. As mentioned previously get the biggest battery you tray will allow.

RE: Man, it's Getting Toasty

I have no idea how you guys deal with that kind of heat. I mean when you can actually cook food outdoors without the assistance of a stove or fire, it's to bloody hot!!!

RE: Storage question

Lots of different opinions about this.
We have a 31 footer and we do not put the stabs down when we store it.
Same here, we leave ours up as well

RE: Honda eu 2000i @8400'

I just got back from a trip at an elevation of over 9000 feet and my Honda 3000 worked flawlessly. I spoke to a Honda dealer in Denver and he told me that he uses his Honda 2000 at over 10,000 feet on his 5er when they go snowmobiling. You will be fine.... enjoy and spend your money on beer vs new jets. :)

RE: 12 Volt plug for TV to convert to 110 for StereoRadioTV

I spoke to Jayco on precisely this question and the answer is NO do not plug an inverter into this socket. Depending on the amp draw you will/can fry the wiring.

RE: hitch grease

I use the Reese grease for the ball. But if you have WDH with the dual cam sway control, I have to disagree with BrokenElbow on the use of the same grease on the bars. According to the Reese instructions "Do not grease the cam and cam arms. The Dual Cam was designed to use metal-to-metal friction. Heavy greasing of the cam and cam arm surfaces will affect performance. If noise is offensive, a very light coating of lubricant, such as Vaseline, may be used."
Yup, Irish is is correct here, LIGHT coating of Vaseline on the bars.

RE: leveling question

First of all - there is no such things a dumb question... If you don't know - - ask!!! That's how WE ALL learn and that's what these forums are for...
Yes, put one in front or behind each tire and pull up on them or back up on them... To make them higher, put two next to each other and then lay another one over the top of both of them interlocking the two together...
And if the ground is not level you can take the edge of one and scrape off enough dirt, rock, whatever to level them... Some of us carry a small army shovel for this purpose...
I carry two sets of them and also some small pieces of 3/4 inch plywood that can be used for fine adjustments or stacked for a bit more height...
Keep asking questions - we'll answer them to the best of our ability - - and a big RV.Net welcome to the Forums :B :B :B ...
Les
Les is right on the money here. Depending how much you need to lift the low side of the trailer, you have to use the method Les mentioned and then pull up on them. If you need to go higher move the ones that no longer have weight on them to the front of the tires and stack them to gain another inch or two and continue this method until you have reached the desired height. I have used my legos to raise the low side five or six inches using two sets of legos. One thing to keep in mind is if you have to go that high on the low side it may take 3 or 4 feet of pulling ahead to stair step your way up to the desired height so keep that in mind when you start the leveling process. Good luck and happy camping! BTW, never have one wheel hanging in the air, level both wheels.

RE: "Smart charger" battery questions for TT please.

Deep cycles batteries like to be charged at 10 amps or less, for a longer period to get to a full charge versus a higher amp setting for a shorter duration. Charging at higher rates is ok when you need to charge them up quickly especially with the smart charger. The charger is designed to supply the batteries with the current that they will accept. So if you are not in a hurry charge at a low setting.
Yes it is okay to charge them both at the same time in parallel. One thing you might consider is a BatteryMinder to supply a trickle charge to the batts over long periods of non use.

RE: Eternabond question

Sprinterowner,
Where did you order it from? Local Camping World has a 4" X 37' roll for $79 bucks. I have see online a 4" X 50' roll for $60 (includes shipping). Anyone seen it for less local or online?

RE: jayco question

I have the RVQII on my Jayco and have never had a problem with heat or grease on the side of the TT or the awning. As others have said, it doesn't have the same BTU ratings as other tabletop grills. It cooks a bit slower, but I am not in a hurry when I'm camping and I like to cook low and slow anyway.
